It's All Speaker Hiss Folks (Well Maybe)
FYI, I was taping the Syracuse show in '83 and was very close to the stage. Being cognizant of capturing a really good, pristine FOB with metal tape,
...
I was surprised how much hiss was coming from the speakers. Well, more like shocked. Whenever I hear a show like this and think, "Wow, that's a lot of hiss," I immediately think of Syracuse. So now you know why, as a SBD, there is so much hiss. And don't ask me why it would show up on the reel, running directly through the board (which to me doesn't make any sense), it's just that it possibly somehow ended up on the tape.

Another great night by the Grateful Dead
This another great night by the Grateful Dead. I like the set list. Everybody sounds good and solid. I could go song by song how great they were but I

won't. There's not enough webpage space. It's just a shame Brokedown palace cuts out, Jerry was playing such a beautifuul solo at the end. I would buy this show on CD.

the tape is hot in its sound quality and it is less noticabel during songs than between but still, there are other nice shows here...check out 9.25/26 of this tour...great shows and zero his. This 'estimated' is worth the download because it does rock. Jer takes a great solo and the post jam out is psaced to the max. Its a 5 star performance with a hissy tape unfortunately. It hisses but I still listened to the entire second set \! 3 stars overall. PS- I just ripped this show form an fm transmitter...my initial post in 2005 was when downloading was still allowed....I was so picky then...I just scored that and listened start to finish (streaming to disc requires that) and this show is great!!! I still say lots of hiss but my better stereo system is able to clean it up. I am getting killer sbds by streaming to an FM transmitter...tons of stuff! I also downloaded over 200 shows. Most of which I already have on tape but got much better quality. This site is marvelous, but the people who contribute are the most wonderful. The music is of course 'to die for'...check out the 'estimated' jam here as well as the rocking bobbyfest to close. Jerry is sort of quite with High time and stella in the second set. Today is 6/28/07...my original post was 2005...I am upping to 4 stars

Show 3 : Sound 3
Not a bad show overall, it has a little bit of hiss (nothing to get excited about) and is a little light on the low end, but the mix and clarity are good

and the show is very interesting. The 'He's Gone' and 'Blues For Allah Jam' are a result of Anwar Sadat's assassination earlier that same day. I remember that day vividly, heard about it on the radio on the way to school. Little did I know the Dead would be going onstage in just a few hours...
